Four instructors have been chosen to receive Rutgers University’s inaugural Excellence in Online Teaching Award. The honor was bestowed by Rutgers Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) in recognition of outstanding work in the design and teaching of online or hybrid courses to create meaningful, effective learning experiences for students.
Rutgers faculty and part-time lecturers or adjunct instructors who have taught one or more academic credit-bearing online or hybrid course(s) were eligible to be nominated for the award. The selection committee was chaired by the Associate Vice President for Online Programs, along with representatives from TLT, Academic Technology Services (Newark), and Instructional Design and Technology (Camden). The selection committee reviewed letters of nomination, course descriptions, Canvas courses, teaching materials, and other evidence of effectiveness and engagement.
The awards were presented by Richard Novak, Vice President for Continuing Studies and Distance Education, and William Pagan, Associate Vice President for Online Programs, at a special panel during the 14th annual Rutgers Online Learning Conference on March 13th, 2023.
