Christopher Valera
Christopher Valera | Assistant Director, Information Technology

A Loyal Son (LC, SCI ’99), Christopher Valera is responsible for the technical operations and system administration of Rutgers Online, the Instructure Canvas Learning Management System, and the Pearson eCollege Learning Management System.  His areas of responsibility include IT staff leadership, instructional technology, vendor management, IT project management, application development, data management, and the help desk. Christopher works closely with University leadership, central administration, academic units, and strategic partners in new product discovery, system integration, and delivering tools to the online learning community at Rutgers.  Christopher was previously the Assistant Director - IT of IT @ Continuing Studies (IT@CS), Rutgers University.

Yuri Alegria
Yuri Alegria | Senior Application Developer
Yuri is a senior application developer at Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT). He is responsible for the development and maintenance of onsite applications and integration with University Learning Management Systems. He also brings his knowledge in project management, web development and systems administration for over 10 years before joining Division of Continuing Studies in 2014. Yuri has a Master’s degree in Computer Science and has a huge love for soccer.

Roy Chao
Roy Chao | Instructional Technology Specialist
Roy joined Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) in 2012. As the Instructional Technology Specialist, he serves as the Canvas learning management system (LMS) administrator. He is committed to providing technology-focused support, training, and consulting for all campuses. Roy holds a Masters of Business and Science in User Experience Design and Bachelors in Economics. Since his time at TLT, he has been directly involved with streamlining processes for the UMDNJ and Rutgers merger, Continuing Education Programs, LMS Course Migrations, and Rutgers Fully Online Degree Programs. His other responsibilities include data analytics and reporting for all online and hybrid courses. Lastly, his contributions helped established the TLT Help Desk Support website.

Priscilla Hockin Brown
Priscilla Hockin Brown | Instructional Technology Specialist

Priscilla is an Instructional Technology Specialist and has been a member of TLT  since 2013.  Previously she has served as a Lab Coordinator in the Rutgers Department of Plant Biology & Pathology where she aided faculty in using both Sakai & eCollege's Learning Management System & Smart Classrooms, and was responsible for various departmental and curriculum websites (in addition to coordinating introductory biology labs for over 900 students).  She provides pedagogical support for faculty interested in using instructional technologies to enhance their students' online learning experiences. Her focus includes course design & revision in various LMSs and the use of edTech tools (VoiceThread, Google Aps, online proctoring solutions). Priscilla excels at technical writing and ensuring online courses have necessary “Getting Started” information. She is a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer, Quality Matters Coordinator, and a VoiceThread Certified Educator. She has a B.S., Horticulture, from Penn State University, and a M.S., Plant Biology, from Rutgers.

Bernadette Power
Bernadette Power | Senior Program Coordinator

Bernadette is a Senior Program Coordinator and joined the Division of Continuing Studies in 2007. She is a proud graduate of Rutgers Newark College of Arts and Sciences in Information Systems. Her love of lifelong learning has led to a Certificate in Educational Technology from the Rutgers Graduate School of Education where she is currently enrolled in the Masters of Education for Adult and Continuing Education. As a member of the Center for Online & Hybrid Learning and Instructional Technologies Bernadette oversees the day to day administration of programs, projects and or processes regarding all aspects of project management. She also is responsible for TLT event programming such as the annual Rutgers Online Learning Conference.

Lisa Shen
Lisa Shen | Programmer Analyst
