Rutgers Teaching and Learning with Technology (TLT) has been notified by our external vendor, Instructure, that access to Rutgers Canvas (https://tlt.rutgers.edu/canvas)has been restored. We apologize for the down time you may have experienced today. TLT and Instructure will continue to monitor the situation and work to resolve an additional issues that arise.
Our Helpdesk was contacted by several end-users starting at 12:44 PM. Canvas by Instructure updated their status page at 12:50 EST to indicate that Amazon Web Services (AWS) experienced a large-scale network issue centered around the northern Virginia server cluster. At 3:54 PM, some users were able to access Canvas intermittently; AWS reported at 4:49 PM a full recover for all operations. Canvas status returned to normal at 5:59 PM EST.
There were several students who were in the process of taking exams while this network event occurred. Instructors may view the quiz logs for affected students. If warranted, instructors may elect to give those students an additional quiz attempt by moderating the quiz.
